My son is now over 2 year old and have been using this mattress since he was 3 months old. We've taken the decision to took him out of the moses basket so young due to the poor support from the rocking frame (and a lot of reflux).
This mattress will fit a cot beb (aka a cot that changes into a toddler bed) not a cot only. So new parents make sure you're checking the dimensions ! It should be written somewhere on the bed frame by the manufacturer.
The mattress itself is definitely soft not firm. I remember reviews pointing this out while looking around. It's true from an adult point of view. However, your child will probably find it "firm" due to its much lighter weight. It's definitely 'springy' but not to the point to have a loud squeaky noise everytime you move.
I've purchased this particular mattress due to its breathability. If your child sleeps on the stomach (and that's very likely to happen) you can definitely be at peace.
